Moving from wild animals to domesticated ones, Naomi found a dairy farm that wasn’t too far from town. After arriving at luxury estates called Irene Farm Villages (stupid GPS), we followed a few more curves in the road to the actual Irene dairy farm. We watched as the heavy-laden ladies marched up to get emptied of their precious milk, which makes delicious shakes and ice cream we later enjoyed. We got to pet the calves and strolled down the paths to the ponds, soaking up the tranquil farm atmosphere.
Naomi and I hadn’t gotten enough of animals by this point, or something, because we ventured out the following day to the Pretoria Zoo, the vast and premier African zoo. Our guides for the journey were our family’s housekeeper Levina and her adorable daughter Nancy. The zoo is pretty incredible, probably the best in all of Africa.
